The learner can:

1. Be able to assess the level of consciousness of an infant and a child    1.1 Carry out a primary survey
1.2 Explain what they were doing to the infant or child
1.3 Correctly place the infant or child in the recovery position 
1.4 Monitor the infant or child
2. Know how to recognise a baby or child or adult in respiratory or cardiac arrest  2.1 Recognise common signs of respiratory distress
2.2 Recognise common signs of cardiac distress 
3. Be able to demonstrate CPR techniques  3.1 Identify when to administer CPR to an unresponsive infant and an unresponsive child who is not breathing normally
3.2 Demonstrate how to administer CPR using an infant and a child manikin
4. Be able to use a defibrillator  4.1 Demonstrate the use of an automated external defibrillator
4.2 Demonstrate the differences when using an automated external defibrillator on a child
5. Know how to help someone who is choking and recovery   5.1 Differentiate between mild and severe airway obstruction 
5.2 Demonstrate how to treat an infant and a child who is choking
5.3 Describe the procedure to be followed after adminstering the treatment for choking
